Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
so when i got my hw95 .177 i got it with the hw silencer.... i was wondering if i could use this silencer with my .22 hw97 ?? before i spend £22 on the adaptor thingy for the end of the 97 so it can take a silencer, i dont want to smash my silencer to bits if the .22 pellets are too big for it.. im guessing there one size fits all .177 .20 .22 .25? the hole looks pretty big like, still thought id ask you guys who have more experience on this. thanks in advance guys. AirgunGuy 362
I don't think they're calibre specific but you could measure the hole on the end of the silencer. If it's 6-7mm or bigger then it will be fine Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
nice one for the confirmation on that wurz and yeh like i said airgun guy the hole looks big enough for a .25 so my .22 should be fine cheers again lads Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
Let us know how it goes as I'm thinking about adding mod to my 97k. Cheers. Quote Link to post
AR177 588
Should fit the only size differences I know they do are ones for 15 or 16mm barrels or 1/2 inch UNF - not calibre differences I've swapped and changed the one I have between my ar and s10 with no issues ATB Adam Quote Link to post
BLACK-GUN 94
I have Theoben rapids in .20 .22 and .25 and i have used the same mod on them all with no problems. Also i have used the theoben mod on my 17hmr and it is better than a Sak. Joe. Mine are all screw cut 1/2 unf. Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
well i was watching a few vermin hunters tv episodes again last night and on one of them si had an extra silencer on his 97.. so im going to pick his brains at the meet to see how he thinks it affects the balance of the rifle and if the muzzle report actually benefits. Tron 173
I cant comment on your specific inquiry but its a fact that the closer the baffle holes are to the calibre (sub sonic speeds) the quieter the firing signature. thats why in my testing experience of AA and the BSA VC moderators are not as quiet as they could be.both have baffle holes that are far too big for maximum sound deadening. Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Ex. if you had ,177 and the 'hole' through your silencer was 4,9mm it would be quieter than if it was 8mm yes?! Figures.. lol Quote Link to post
