tomas 9
Hi iv just got 2 working jills their not the most handleable. Iv noticed their claws are really long and it looks like the blood vesuls have grown too far down to just clip them. I was thinking if I put some sand paper down in the hutch would it wear them down and be safe. Or has anyone got any other ideas ta for your help tom Quote Link to post
joe14 98
Put em on their backs on your knee. Put some ferretone/oilive oil on their belly. Clip away whilst their lickin the oil. Dont cut the quick which is the pink vein. Take little bit off at a time before you get too confident with them. Where abouts are you mate maybe someone can show you. Edited September 27, 2012 by joe14 Quote Link to post

tomas 9
That's the problem the pink bit is far down the nail to the point one of her back claws has started to grow inwords. joe14 98
Yes mate if they are growing inwards they will be realy uncomfortable. Their back claws shouldnt grow that long its usually just the front that wants clipping. Im in west yorkshire. Quote Link to post
ferret 222 0
let them run about on patio if u have one id not wear claws down to much they use em as defence if blocked in dead end by rabbit Quote Link to post

ferret 222 0
ive not seen ingrowing nail on ferret before or had a prob with long nails take it vet think i wood cost but ferts worth it Quote Link to post
joe14 98
Sounds to me that the the vein as grown more and more into the nail because they havnt been cut or being wearing them down regular. I might be wrong though, im just going by what your saying. see of you can get a good pic of them. Edited September 27, 2012 by joe14 Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
If you can cut it at all close to the quick she should find after a few days it will go back a bit more and you can cut again bit by bit.Otherwise its of to the vet. Quote Link to post
