moxy 617
Tegater. Each to his own mate and I'm not knocking the concept. If it works for you then fair play but in my eyes it's an unesecerry outlay for something I see that over complicates the job. Yes if your running thousands of traps but even then I would want scaled mapping. Trappa how many traps do you loose each year? And of those that are lost how many are down to theft, wildlife and forgetfulness? An outlay of £100 for a gps unit could potentially buy you another 30 some barrel traps Borrow your young uns Nintendo ds and get some brain training done!! Atb Quote Link to post
DKGPestControl 22
I do as DA Pest Control says! Just leave the mole hills closest to your trap standing and rake the others. I used to use canes but kept loosing traps! not because people stole them, I have a problem with the deer pulling the canes out and moving them. I lost 15 Talpex on one 400acre farm once because of this! I have maps of each contract sketched and photo copy one for each visit, leave the mole hills standing and don't seem to have any trouble with stolen traps, nor lost ones. Quote Link to post

They love a good mole marker for a scratch. I have also encountered rabbits removing loosely placed markers as they take the bark off the sticks I use. Quote Link to post

Atb Mixy, I don't use gps to mark traps, I simply answered the question as to whether it could be. I use and train the use of gps as part of my job, so I understand the pros and cons of them quite well, which is why I said there are easier ways of doing it, unless you are very familiar with them. I personally mark them or draw a rough sketch if I can't mark them, but that in all honesty isn't often. ATB. Quote Link to post
