Re: Royal Mail ban on postage/delivery of Air rifle/Firearm components.

Gentlemen.

I've had an email from Zoe Allchorn at Royal Mail in response to my original email protest at the above proposal.

Quote.

"Thank you for your well-written and reasoned thoughts....Royal Mail will consider all points of view regarding this proposal, before making any final decision."

It still lies with everyone to make their protest heard and reverse this latest infringement on our right to enjoy our shooting sports.

Regards to all.

No pun intended, I think RM might have shot themselves in the foot over this. They just keep putting the prices up, providing a poor service, then try to restrict what they will and won't carry even further. I'm surprised they have any customers at all.

K'in Ell Simon!

You got more than the usual that the rest of us have had from her

Most of the UBC got this:

"Dear .......

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our consultation. Royal Mail will review all responses before a final decision is made.

Yours sincerely

Zoe Allchorn"

Here is what another UBC member got from his MP

Had a positive response from my MP:-

Dear Mr .........,

Thank-you for your email.

My view is that the Royal Mail should continue to carry firearms.

Kind regards,

David Nuttall MP

And the most encouraging remark was from Ofcom who replied to one of our members with ".... Ofcom does not approve the Schemes that Royal Mail proposes although we do have the power under Section 89A of the Act to direct Royal Mail to modify its Schemes ...."

Keep up the good work guy's and dolls :victory:

I wrote informing her of the grave consequences for many people who work in the trade and everyone who enjoys shooting sports in Britain already under great restriction by stringent UK Firearms laws, who rely on mail order for scopes, spare parts, pellets etc as a major part of their businesses. Also and particularly the remedial benefits of shooting for the disabled, many of who will have no recourse but to use the postal services for maintaining their active involvement.

I made mention of our abysmal no-show in the Olympics 10-Metre rifle final event because, thanks to the negative view already being actively fostered on shooting in this country, no one wishing to compete can find official sponsorship to fund their expenses, travel, hotels etc. We could have cleaned up here. But no! Our only Gold medal for shooting was won by a young man supported entirely by his parents alone.

Our last medal in rifle and pistol eventing was a Bronze won by Barry Dagger in 1979.

Write on the positive aspects of shooting and let the buggers know what they are going to cause by effecting this bullshit to get them off the hook with their poor delivery record!

Come on lads, show some bloody fight!
