Aaron Proffitt 142
Ya they can run !! My stag has a good holding style he catch on the ear an gets up close to the hog an kinda walks in s circle with them , but yes some big hogs will sling the dogs around a little till they get there footing together , The slaughter house buys them they will buy as many as you can bring , an sone high fence ranches what big tooth hogs I used to have a stag that was a pretty damn good hog dog ,once he got it through his head that he wasn't going to make a kill. Time and again he'd make a grab and then try to get around to get a throat hold. You know how well that works out on a hog. Tut would sometimes take a hit, release and then get another hold and try the process all over again. Eventually, Tut accepted the fact that a good hold was good enough for us. It was one of those things I figure I'd let him work out on his own. Edited September 17, 2012 by Aaron Proffitt Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,907
yall dont have hogs over there ?? Nice pictures SH! We have a number of separate but established and quickly growing pockets of European Wild Boar. They were extinct in the wild on this island but escapees have formed a wild stock again. None around my area, though I dream of the day! HA. Also, the hunting laws in this country are so backward and restrictive that we can only dream of hunting the way you lads, the Aussies, Kiwis and Eurpeans do. That said, there are lads rumoured to have chucked a couple of dogs in the direction of our boar..... Quote Link to post
Buch 145
Id like to know how boar compare to feral pigs. Like Born Hunter said no wild pigs near me. Ive always wondered if the countryside is actualy open enough for wild boar to get everwere. Id imagine ther is just to many fences and it would realy impede them. Quote Link to post

You would think , but fences don't seem to stop them at all. I really have to give pigs props on survivability, reproductivity and over all I guess, 'gumption'. They get the smallest opportunity and they'll make a go of it. 1 Quote Link to post
