NEWKID 29,107
A lot in the papers about Rooney at the minute.... Fergie not happy with him, unfit, smoking, drinking, overweight etc. As a utd fan I was hoping for a RVP - Rooney pairing which on paper is the best in the prem ( RVP top scorer last year rooney 2nd in the prem) I know it's only paper talk but is rooneys time running out? has Fergie waited for his time after Rooney held him to ransom? Would a transfer of around 50 million be good business now with the emergence of welbeck plus the new signings looking good? Or should the side still be built around Rooney who IMO when on form is one of the top players in the world. What's your views lads

NEWKID 29,107
Craigboy: the 50 mil was a figure in the paper today and I suppose at 26 with a proven record behind him that would be around the figure, Torres was 50 mil Andy Carrol 35 mil etc. Troter: I wouldn't want him going to city you know that's gonna bite you on the ass look at tevez. They reckon he's out for 2 months with that gash I think it could shape his and utds future.....

What's your views lads Rooney seems to have taken a step backwards the last 2 years, still does ok for United but for England he is pure shite. If offered 50 mill sell him its good Business in my book. A lot of expectation when he's playing for England mate, the best sides in the world Spain, Germany etc have a few players of rooneys ilk and better we haven't..... Theres a lot of work all round to catch up but that's another story.... I just wonder as I'm the past ( stamm, beckham, van nilstroy) if Fergie is getting close to another big bye bye..... It's only speculation but I wonder if rooneys contract rubbish a few years back might bite him on the ass..... Fergie wasn't in a position to sell him then it was all on rooneys terms might be different now?

Malt 379
He won't be going anywhere IMO.. I reckon the problem is he's been the first name on the team sheet for too long. When he first came, he had proper competition for his place from Van Nistlerooy and then Ronaldo. Since they've left, he's been the main man and don't need to push to get in the team. Having a few players like RVP and Kagawa in the squad might just give him the kick in the arse he needs to up his game again...

I personally would love to see him hit real form and the pairing with RVP could be brilliant... If he is out for a couple of months and the side start performing he may find it tough to get back in, how he responds will be interesting.... I agree though Malt the signing of a player like RVP must have got him thinking, then being dropped on Saturday, Last season it was who is gonna play alongside Rooney is it who will play up with RVP? lanesra 4,007
Im expecting critisized for my opinion here ... I personally think you have seen the best of Rooney , he has lost a yard off pace , yes he will at times turn it on ... but World Class not in my eyes , he is still hungry for the game , his work rate is unquestionable but thats not what put him where he is today , playing for England in the last few yrs he hasnt/cant take a game by the scruff off the neck and influence the result like he did when he 1st broke into the team and has struggled against average international opposition , i genuinely believe he at 26 has seen his best days because off his lack off pace and he should really just be peaking at his age , whether thats too do with his Life style im not sure , as for 50 million for him i doudt that very much , yes Man City where sniffin round him a yr ago and maybe they would pay Big Money for him , but a price tag doesnt mean he is world class , Andy Carroll was a panic Buy when Torres left and he isnt world class , where as Suarez was probably less than Joleon Lescott but Suarez IS WORLD CLASS , just my opinion .
gnasher16 31,602
Im of the opinion that a lot of these players who show great talent real young in England can often have a shorter lifespan at the very highest level.....players like Rooney,Michael Owen,Theo Walcott hit such a peak so young it becomes hard to maintain and improve as much as we expect them to......abroad where the game is slower young players are not burnt out by their mid 20,s..........hopefully Rooney still has more to come but it wouldnt surprise me if we,ve already seen the best of him.
