thursodog 353
Hi folks. I might be buying one of these for my lads. Any thoughts on this as far as a managable gun for a youngster to develope spring shooting with. Cheers in advance. Chris. Quote Link to post

thursodog 353
Yeah, been reading reviews, mostly good, 1 or 2 negative ones. Rather fancy it, got the chance of one going for a good price. Thanks Chris Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
All round, it seems a smashing little underlever the HW57. Certainly seems well-liked by those who own one Chris. The only real drawback with the HW57 pop-up breech, as with Diana's 460 Stutzen, is it will limit the length of scope you can fit to it. And that could be a drawback. because it's an accurate little sporter that your lad can learn and grow-up shooting with it; and go on to hunt with it. It deserves a decent scope. And it's a Weihrauch! Not heard of mechanical problems with the HW57's breech but, even the best made gear will not take to repeated rough and careless handling. Give this one a fair hearing and see what you think Best regards. Simon Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Go for it, its a good starter gun, should be easy for your lads to cock 1 Quote Link to post
thursodog 353
Thanks Simon. I've decided to go for it, its got a 3-9x50 scope (don't know the make as yet) swivels, sling and bag. I'll hopefully get it before someone else does. Dying to get it home and stripped, cleaned etc. I've also negotiated for a very clean 97k with a venom kit already fitted for my oldest. Sold one of these a year ago and wish i hadn't Happy days. All the best Chris. 1 Quote Link to post

thursodog 353
90 quid with a scope and its seemingly in good condition so i'll bite the bullet and go see it and try it out. There's a good few reviews from people saying they are great trouble free guns after having them for years. Find it hard to believe that weihrauch would make something that has inherent problems. I'm probably buying it. Cheers Chris. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Sounds a cracking bargain Chris. Well worth a closer look. If the condition is good on the outside, it generally follows it'll be fine on the inside. I never had a problem with any of the Weihrauch rifles I've owned over many years, save fair wear and tear on mainsprings and one broken trigger spring. All easy to replace and fix mate. Good for you! Best wishes to you and the boys. Simon Quote Link to post
