clever or lazy?!

Recommended Posts

evening, do you think dogs can be too clever for there own good when out hunting?? i have a deerhound collie greyhound with about a quarter beddy whippet in her, shes only young still, nearly two, im very happy with her in everyway upto now, shes really laidback kind of dog and seems to worship the ground i walk on, sometimes when im out she doesn,t seem bothered about the rabbits staying next to me while my terrier is going crazy in the bushes! on the otherhand when she marks up a bush and the terrier goes in theres a rabbit in there, she works the long grass where i walk and if theres something in there she will find it! ive seen her stood marking a bush when theres been a rabbit in the open about 10 meters away, i thought she was being lazy not running the rabbit, but as it happens the rabbit bolted and she nailed it, so is she clever? i would only ever use her on rabbits as i have no intention hunting anything else, either way im happy with her, just asking if anyone else has had a dog like this thanks..018-1.jpg?t=1340905761dogs2.jpg

Definitely clever: an intelligent dog that knows how rabbits operate won't waste its energy on a rabbit it knows it has little chance of catching. I do like a dog that has a bit of grey matter between its ears.
