toby63 1,236
may be its had a encounter of sum sort when younger or something.but all dogs are not inclined to grabing something when already dead. Quote Link to post
bedwhippet 164
ive a young dog nearly a year old, hes only caught a pheasant and has had one run on a rabbit doubled with one of my other dog to show him what to do, seems to be keen enough but when i try get him out on his own and see if i can get him a run on his own he has his head on the floor and doesnt bother with watching the lamp, like has been said its all about patience, the dog my pup went out with didnt get started till he was 19-20 month old, your pups time will come Quote Link to post
jezza 126
maybe it was running away because the other dog was growling and wanted it for himself Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
It was same for me with my whippet, when she was 18-19 month old she changed - she now bounces on her back legs on the slip when she can see a rabbit. its only a pup let it be one! Quote Link to post

Guest born to run1083
The more there out the quicker they will learn, It doesn't take long if the dogs out enough. Not sure if you're on about teeth or what but in my opinion I'd get as many rabs behind him as you can before. Really get his confidence up. Then build up. Quote Link to post
