Moll. 1,793
Is there a reason why pigs tend to be kept in sty's and not roaming in fields like sheep do?

I've never seen that only pens with a small bit of field partitioned off. Was asking because i have recently seen some pigs out grazing in a field with sheep. And realised i have never seen it before Is there a reason why pigs tend to be kept in sty's and not roaming in fields like sheep do? Going off the ones my mates got its coz their sods for getting out through most types of fencing That makes sense
rob84 112
Pigs will prety much destroy any fence, and churn the ground up, pigs generally fatten better kept in a sty where they generally eat and sleep, a few of my mates buy in a few piglets when they are about out of pork and they grow like mad! Nice meat as well a little bit fattier than pigs kept out, had 1/2 pig that was free range and it was tough old bugger to eat!
