Michael Lumley 1
a couple of days ago i went shooting on a large permission of mine with my brother and a friend. i and my friend were using our bsa ultras 177 and my brother my old gamo shadow springer 22 now at the begining of the shoot when we were checking our zero the shadow was kicking all over the place and my brother couldnt get 100mm group for love nor money so he called it a day. now being a nice brother i checked my loft and found an old diana firebird 177 our father gave me a few years ago now ive never fired it and only glanced at it a few times but thought lets scope it up and give it a try (get my brother back into the game ) i had an old 4x32 scope which i mounted to said gun zeroed it and i was astonished that i could get 5mm groupings at thirty yard ( exactly) if i had known that it was this good i may not have bothered to get the gamo shadow a few years back . we went hunting last night me with my ultra my brother with the diana and he took me to school i got 2 bunnies and a crow he got 4 bunnies and amazingly a magpie at 55 yards !!!!! just shows guys ... the old ones are sometimes the best. pianoman 3,589
Great post Michael! Just shows how well a top quality spring rifle will deliver . Great shooting. I remember the Diana Firebird as a quite good looking, refined air rifle. You had a real beauty in the loft all the time!!! Ditch the Gamo. Cheap guns + cheap quality = poor performance. All the best. Simon Quote Link to post
