paulus 26
can you hire them and do you need to drain most of the water out first ?
Millet 4,497
You can hire them Paul but i am unsure of the price..i do know it cost a bit though..the pond's i work on are fed from a constantly flowing burn with valve's and over flow's to control the flow and pond level.. If you where to go down this route and you can not drain the pond start around the edge and work your way in as them pump's shift huge amount's of water aswell as the silt..which is not a problem if the pond is constantly being filled..if you need any more info..fire away on here or via a PM and i will try to help..if i don't know the answer i may well be able to find out.. paulus 26
The weed is not a major pollution problem Paul it just choke's the pond up and they is little space for the fish..on pond two where i was getting the silt out even the snail's where dieing as it was that polluted.. as i said the silt is full of blood worm, ive redirected a run off from a nearby very large building down a ditch and into the pond so its getting plenty of fresh water flowing through it, with all this rain. ive found and unblocked the original overflow aswell so thats that bit sorted. its surrounded on 3 sides by large trees forget the name i call them matchwood tress as the feckers are forever falling down in the winds ive traced the original water source back to a natural spring but a local farmer must have redirected the flow for his sheep as theres a pond where the wasnt one shown on a map ive got from the 1950`s of the place. my plan is to try to get the carp to breed and feed for ducks come the autum.
