Whippets

a whippet type dog is the best dog for ferretting. cant go wrong with a good whippet.

I agree they make good ferretting dogs but if ferreting for a long time in wet, cold windy conditions and the going is slow there are better options, but if there your favourite ferreting dog then fair enough.

how is that young pup of yours now is she settling in if you dont mind me asking?

Hi Darbo, thanks for asking.

She's come on in leaps and bounds and is a lot more confident around me which im so happy about. Im taking it really steady with her, but she did get to hold a fresh rabbit the other day when Penny the collie/greyhound unexpectedly pinned one on the edge of some brambles. Other than that im just letting her enjoy her youth. She is rather crafty and although only has a bit of collie in her you can see this coming through every now and again. I was hoping that she would be a bit bigger, she's very finely boned (18 inch at around 7 months (28lb)), but thats a minor setback and im sure she'll turn on a sixpence.... a few pics
