lurcher expectations

Recommended Posts

Ye can have the best trained luchers going and entered correctly if they aint got the heart or drive they still aint gonna make it a collie cross if it aint got the above will still pick and choose run's and stalk stuff, a coursing dog will still pull up on a hare, a bull cross will turn its nose up when something bite's it and a dog will still turn away or lift its head when running deer or buck's or stag's all that training is a load of bollox and just makes the dog more pleasurable to own it counts for a smaller part in the field i think and it fall's more to a dog's heart and drive to get the job done at the end of it imo

I think everyone has high expectations on their dogs but people need to realise they arent robots and can off days/get hurt. I also agree people are far to hasty In getting rid. A dog could of been bred for 1 thing and not be great at it but be very good at other tasks. I read on here before one mans jacker is anothers world beater

i think everyone is missing a very important point here guys, a dog has only got to please one person and thats the one that owns feeds and looks after it .tbh there aint a dog ever been born that gives a monkeys cuss about what anyone other than its owner thinks .and lets be honest not every lurcher is gonna make top grade but as long as it suits the owner what does it matter .and theres a lot of owners out there that are more than happy with their running dogs regardless of how they measure up to the so called superstar dogs .

At the end of the day I want a lurcher to be able to catch enough edible quarry to feed itself and hopefully me as well, anything more would be a bonus, if the dog dont catch the dog is a luxury, already have 1 pet dog and a budgie... Everything else is expected to provide food for the house in some shape or form
