That's right millet, I remember them being very common, but unfortunately that's not the case now.

Going by your location, I snapped that one not that far from you.

They used to be load's near to me and as silly kid's we used to shoot them with air rifle's.. :cray:..i wish i knew then what i know now.. :thumbs: ..

Same here, and we'd also walk the banks with our Dogs catching loads of them, but nobody batted an eyelid back then because they were so common, and not protected by law. There's now none on any of the becks where I grew up, though there's still a decent number on the becks in the urban areas.

i've heard many a person ask how you can tell a vole from a rat, is it me or are they like totally diferent?

 

  • Rats have much darker fur and the WV has ‘nice’ brown fur
  • Rats also have longer tails which have no fur on
  • The Water Vole has a more rounded face and much less pronounced snout and ears
