B.P.R 2,798
I've just got a new kennel. Nothing fancy, just to put the dogs in whilst the missus goes work, 2-3 hours 3 times a week and when we go out etc. Kennel also gives us the option to put them in when it's hot etc instead of leaving them in the house. Now they've always lived in the house ad I've been putting them in it a few times a day. Theyre fine in there. Only problem is they won't use the run to have a p!ss and sh!t. They come out of the kennel bursting for the toilet and the other day there was p!ss on their bed. I'm not sure if it was the pup (16 wks) which it more than likely was. Any ideas how to get them to use their run for the toilet or will they just realise what its for in Time. Like I said, they are all house dogs and only had experience in the kennel the last week Or so, on and off. Any help appreciated. KittleRox 2,147
Me personaly mate would rather they didn,t piss or shite in the run either and just done the toilet as normal when oot for a walk
B.P.R 2,798
Aye that's fine I suppose but the pup needs the toilet and if I have to leave them in it for more than a few hours for whatever reason then they need to know where the toilet is
skycat 6,174
What sort of surface do they normally pee on? If it is grass: then put a couple of pieces of turf in the run, preferably from somewhere they have peed in the past. A lot of dogs don't like to pee on concrete, so sometimes a handful of shavings or straw in the run also helps: but don't use either as bedding. dogs are creatures of habit, and getting them to pee somewhere which they consider as 'inside', such as a run, can be difficult if they haven't bee brought up to do it. Attack Fell Terrier 864
I have the same problem with my Lurcher. The people who had him before me house trained him, so now when he's enclosed in his run he must think that he's not allowed to piss and shit in there? When I let him out he bombs straight out and pisses up the shed, and he'll be lashing it out for ages, I feel sorry for the poor b*****d sometimes as he must hold it in for a long time to piss the amount that he does. The run is always spotless, it's the cleanest its ever been lol.

Sometimes the dog will piss up one of them stand things you put your big brolly in, the things that go underneath the garden table. I'm gonna put that in the run and see if he'll piss up against that. Cheers for the idea mate
