Older whip defended pup

Out for a walk this morn my whip pup 18 weeks old was chased and being attacked by a cairn terrier whilst fetching a ball doing retrieving training, my other whip bitch 20 mths old just left a mark in the grass were hit hit the terrier at full speed, now I didn't think she would defend the pup as they as not related in any way, has anyone else had any instances like this.

Shes still defending her pack mate. Dont matter if their related or not.

Me terrier will defend my lurcher and vise verser, if one of my dogs get attaked the other one will be straight to its side and they will fight another dog off

same here if a strange dog goes for one of mine or my mates it will have to fight them all they are all part of the same pack even tho they are not related

i lad who shared a house with me his staff got loose and my lurcher was there [bANNED TEXT] another staff ripped into it. a week later the staff got loose again and my lurcher chased him down and lyed down on top of him to stop the staff getting away i am convinced that its because he seen the staff get hurt

my patterdale went for a staffy that latched onto my sisters young patterdale.. funny enough so did my dads patterdale(my sister's dogs sister) and my misses's westie.. was quit shocked since only my dads n sisters are related and mine is about 3 year older than them....but i guess, since they all usually get walked together they are part of the pack..

 

my pattedale has went for a dog that went for me once too... all pack mentality i suppose
