sandymere 8,263
Looks like people have some good plots, we’ve just taken on a new plot after the other lot put the rent up to £150 a year per plot. The new on is closer and they charge £5 a year lol . We’ve a ½ plot so £2.50 and it came in good nick with 2 sheds, a load of well rotted manure, 2 cold frames etc etc. The fella that had it was very keen but health problems made him give it up so it was kept in pretty good shape. Just a littler maintenance to sort like fixing a leaking roof on one shed and rehanging a gate, we were very lucky. Put the onion sets in when we took over about 6 weeks ago along with broad beans, tatties, broccoli and peas around 3 weeks ago, all coming along well. Last weekend the Runner and French beans went in with the Squashes, the latter two under cloches although unlikely to get a frost down here now. Salad seedlings showing well, carrots just showing. Got some cabbage to go in this weekend so hoping for a good year and with a bit of sun forecast should be eating well. I’ll have to take some pics.
RubyTex 1,957
Plot update - Off work so thought i'd pop down just to check everything over. Ended up staying 3 hours patching everything up, making an aviary for finches and digging over another bed for potatoes. Finally picking up my chickens on Thursday coming, 1 x 8 month old Light Sussex cockerel, 3 x 1 year old hens and 8 x 2 week old unrelated chicks to go in my brooder at home (Mix of copper blue/black marans and RIR). Been looking high and low for some so i'm over the moon and it means whilst my chicks are under heat the 3 hens will hopefully start the egg laying process. Leaving my aviary to stand for a bit, don't want to rush out and overload myself with livestock, can barely look after myself Atb lads.
