Giro 2,648
I recently wrote to my local MP, regarding repealing the hunting ban and the purposed free vote that was in their manifesto… I was not given a firm answer to when this would take place but the Tories claim this will take place. Overview off of content ; “There are many greater priorities facing the government at the moment, but the Coalition Government plan to honour that commitment by putting forward a motion on the issues at an appropriate time”. “If it’s in favour of the of an repeal, the Government will introduce a Repeal Bill in both house of Parliament in due course”. They were the best bits they also slated labour “in tackling huge budget deficit inherited from the last government must be priority at this present time.” In all they don’t foresee a free vote on this in the near future. This was from MP J Stevenson, at least he took the time to reply.. Is there anyone else with further information?? What are your local MP’s views??
Born Hunter 17,960
Surely a free vote with our current situation would be suicidal for the future of hunting? The vote would almost certainly be NO to repeal and the one chance we had would have been wasted. The majority of voters need to be pro repeal, currently that is not the case. From my point of view everyone that is shouting for Cameron to honour his promise of a repeal need to shut the f**k up and wait untill the time is right. Giro 2,648
Why do you belive its suicidal?? And what would have to change for the vote to be more in our favour?? The time will never be right the Hunting act will always envoke stong opiions on both sides..... JMHO

The way things stand I believe a vote would certainly be unsuccessfull. We've got one real chance and it would be blown using it now unless something very drastic is done to sway mps in favour of repeal.

I.m.o.There will never be a Repeal, best work round current law best you can..or try change it to suit abit more Exemptions...or a move to Scotland !,the law North of the border is more workable..Local MP ,along with the rest of Joe Public think it's Banned !outright...exemptions don't come into their train of thought,at the mo;Best kept that way,They think the've got a ban,we get to hunt on,under guidlines....that on the whole didn't change much, other than the Quarry the Lurcher s can run on... WILF 51,136
He promised us a referendum on Europe as well and we didn't get that, even after more than 100'000 people signed a petition for it......personally, I don't give a billy goats bollocks if they repeal the ban or not now. PlasticJock 539
Who gives a s**t about the ban - you follow the rules and antis grass anyway... Cops turn up and you're on the back foot straight away as they haven't got a clue about the 'law'. Also, I don't work dogs but the ban is crap, the reasons behind it were criminal, and let's be honest, more laws are broken everyday at Westminster than on a field in the middle of nowhere. Now the Tories are in they won't risk losing even more public support so forget any chance of a repeal, you've got more chance of Tony Blair paying his taxes.
