update on storm the pup i bought from richie10 on here, a really big strong healthy dog, loosing his afro this weekend unfortunately :laugh: he gets really tired in it so ive decided to cut it off, 8 months old and standing a bit taller than bracken.

Why would a dog get tired because it has a thick coat? It's more likely he's outgrown his strength at the moment. Pups go through growth spurts which can make them loose energy faster than you'd imagine. If the dog is really hot and panting like mad then that's another thing: there's a difference between panting through being too hot and being tired. Also, some dogs fed on cereal based foods tend to over heat more than dogs fed on raw meat and bone diet.

i think if we had a big wool coat we would overheat surely? and yes hes on doctor johns platinum and raw meat and bone varying from rabbit hare and whatever else, pigeon seems to make the dogs bad so thats off menu aswell as mince they dont like that

Some good sound advice from skycat there , at 8 months old the pup shouldnt be doing too much anyway , it seems a little early to be ripping his puppy coat off , very nice looking dog :thumbs:

, the dog will be overheating because of that thick coat , as for dogs overheating on cereal based food s who told you that ??????

people come on here with second hand info , ie sky cat , remeber yr words of wisdom about jogging a dog out lol

 

get yr dog clipped right out mate it will feel like a new dog !!!!!!
