Section 1 pistol????

Recommended Posts

Right let me clear this up i worked for a dealer and carried section 5 stock, a pistol or small firearm as defined in law is section 5 or 7.1 or 7.3 dependant on the firearm in question, i.e a collectible or one of special value such as owned by a famous war hero, now when a variation is granted for a pistol to be placed on a section 1 certificate it is section 5 or 7.1 or 7.3 on the dealers register and then when sold the firearm becomes section 1, if the certificate holder sells the pistol back to a section 5 dealer (who can also posses section 7.1 or 7.3) the firearm in question reverts back to its original section 5 or 7.1 or 7.3 status

Its a hard fight to get one and unless you need it for professional reasons i.e knackerman it is questionable weather the fight is justifiable,

If anyone is going for it good luck i was refused a .22 single shot pistol for terrier work (hobby) on my fac as no good reason even though i had terrier and had a load of permission but i was dealing with them all day at work ....... Ridiculed of firearms legislation

Does it really matter whether it is section 1 or section 5. You will either be granted one or not. The rest is all semantics!

There are examples of stalkers gaining permission for various full bore pistol calibres as well as the usual .22 and .32. I think it was in Durham somewhere years ago BASC helped support the successful fight of two stalkers gaining a full bore s/a pistol and revolver.

You can get them if you do the target pistol competitions, cant remember what the name of the event is but you have to fire 5 shots is about 4 seconds at 5 rotating targets

I had a go a bisley was great fun - and the guns were owned by a friend of mine on his firearms licence.

I dont know what classification it was though

For chasing up Deer in heavy woodland or cover if I remember rightly Teg?

Most forces have had to relax what is a good reason since that time because so many were challenged and won when threatened with legal action by the shooting organisations.

Still a tough fight though, which it shouldn't be when it's written in black and white on the statute book what the exemptions are.

another piece of legislation who`s interpritation varies considerably from force to force, from a terriermans point you need one to comply with the current legislation, if thats not good enough reason then i wouldnt know what is

Correct but alot of forces take that as only hunt servants witch of course is incorrect

a hunt has no need of a terrierman as the legislation only reffers to protection of game birds when it comes to digging foxs athough the human dispatch of fallen stock or wounded amimals is also a good reason
