J Darcy 5,871
I am thinking about a 50-500 sigma. get them on ebay from hongkong for about £450 .....but i dont know if it will be dodgy??????
Guest The Big Fish
The *2 teleconverter does exactly that, doubles the reach of the lense by twice its original length, BUT you should check to see if your lense will still autofocus with a teleconverter on it (not many do). It will also alter the minimum aperture value and it will give poorer results on the cheaper lenses.
J Darcy 5,871
You will need more light too with the 2X converter. I never shoot my lense on auto with the wildlife, prefer to use manual. I think you loose a stop of light or two with a 2x converter. i used to have one and didnt really like it. better to buy a longer lense maybe. I have an old cosina 100-400 here and its not suitable for the digitals.
tiny tim 22
you will lose 2 stops with a 2x converter and it may not auto focus unless it is a 2.8 apperture...i fancy getting one myself but am also worried about losing quality....have also been tempted by the lenses from hong kong ....has anyone bought lenses from there? J Darcy 5,871
Some of them say its a gift and you wont pay any tax. will this be true or a load of rubbish?
IanB 0
Bollocks I think...could be wrong though...pays your money and takes ya chances...
maty j 6
had a packet from HK today that was marked as a gift on the customs declaration, but have had others that have just stated what they are. check the feedback of the seller see what if he says is what he does and just make sure he will mark it as a gift when they send it out.
