Some people do have different opinions about this, I for one don't think spending millions and millions on sport is better than creating some original content like Top Gear, Psychoville or whatever when you can watch sport elsewhere. But in comparison to how much a series like Top Gear or whatever costs, that get a lot of viewers, buying the rights to show sport is very very expensive. If it was the only place to watch it then fair enough, but I would rather see the money making something original, creating jobs and giving some lucky breaks to people in the process.
