Marvin 193 Posted March 11, 2012 Report Share Posted March 11, 2012 Well almost, I have always fancied the idea of having a caravan/hut, somewhere away from the everyday things and the mundane attributes that come with being a member of today's society, catch my own meat and grow my own veg, sort of gypsy living but without the tarmac, robbing or shagging cousins. Hooked up with my uncle over the weekend and we are going to be using his garden for the veg, it wont be a lot because its not a huge garden, but done right I reckon we could have some canny tucker growing (using his gardening brain and my spadework I do believe). Need to get onto the council tomorrow and see how much further I am on the allotment list, hopefully get things moving up a notch, but most of all im looking forward to getting The Warless Warrior delivered so I can get a few more ideas, from someone who has taken a step to the side of society to live his own life, a true inspiration. Who knows maybe end up in a caravan/hut on a smallholding or in woods somewhere, rent/council tax and chav society free (well I can dream cant I) 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I might sound it, but i'm honestly not jokin here. Think of how far the allotments are away from you, now use that distance as a radius around your home, i bet there is a strip of neglected land perfect for the job within that distance. Go and clear it. Dig it over, enjoy the random shit you pull out haha, and get gardening. Later, quietly erect a modest shed and maybe a chicken coop. I am certain NO-ONE will complain. If they do, so what? Cause no harm, injury or loss, and you are completely within the law and whats more, you'd be living your dream! Nothing to lose! The worlds a marvelous place baby! We've just got chickens and they are fantastic. They bring such life and pleasure to the garden and you can spend (and I have done) ages just zoned out watching them. An errant Labrador killed one when they were free ranging forcing us to ditch our idealistic plan and fencing them in. Whilst it breaks my heart I'd rather them alive and safe (they aren't the most switched on of gods creations) and dog walkers not to feel excluded from the woodland we all enjoy... If you've got 8 beds for growing veg could you not use one for chickens and incorporate them into your crop rotation? Chicken tractors. They'll manure as they go too.
