The .17HMR "Hornady Magnum Rimfire" is the .22 magnum or WMR "Winchester Magnum Rimfire" knecked down, the "H" on the bottom, could be for Hornady, the .17 HMR was developed by the Hornady Ammunition Company USA in 2002. Deker 3,491
Its a .17HMR. There is debate over who "invented" it, but most certainly Hornady, Marlin and Remington collaborated (interesting H.M.R.), I believe Ruger may have been involved as well! Quote Link to post

I use hornady red/blue tip, and my mate uses remingtons. We both interchange with no shift of zero if either one of us runs out. Maybe though that is testimony of the CZ 452 varmint. They are not all, always the same, there are batch differences as with any ammo, and there is of course the psychological effect, if you think you get better results with one brand over another (even if they all came out of the same factory) you probably will! ...and yes...I have found differences! Maybe I would notice the difference if paper punching, but like you apart from essential practice in different conditions, all my work is vermin control, and I haven't yet noticed a significant difference where that is concerned. Psychological concerns can affect anybody if they let them, but that is overcome by training. Quote Link to post
