cubs.

after reading the thread, dispatch or let run, what would you do if you came on a litter of cubs.

would you humanly dispatch them, or save them and release them at a later date.

i know that its not nice hunting when there are cubs on the ground, but we all know that it has to be done sometimes, in my case lambing season. the one and only time that i dont like hunting.

i will honest, and i know that some of you will think that i am wrong, and it it against the law,

but if i can i try and save the cubs and let them off some where else if their strong enough,

or if not keep them till they are.

just would like other lads thoughts and opinions.

How much digs do you get? How many litters were you thinking of keeping and releasing? Cant see where that is practical at all. I understand why most of you lads release what you catch, when i first came on the site i never could get my head around it but realise its all about testing your dogs which makes sense now. Not feasable to be keeping litters back though surely?

hi lab.

i think that you took me up wrong.

probably my fault.the way i put the question.

i dont keep all the fox cubs that i find. that would not be practial and damm near impossible.

i do a lot of fox work here where i am, most digging but a fair amount of rock as well.

out of all the cubs that i come across i get to keep very few.

the main reason that i raise a certian amount of cubs every year is that i dont like to kill everything.

also i wouldnt like to see the fox population wpie out here.

The thing is there is only so many and if you release the vixens they are there for another day some have to be dispatched i reared one last year and let it go in oct in a wood where we are not allowed to dig and hopefully it will have young and they will wander onto my patch there are more killed now by the midnight cowboy than at any other time so what help they get will no doubt benefit Charlie
