Hi,

Ive been looking over the internet and there seems to be lots and lots of ways/recipes for making your sloe fin/vodka etc.

Just wondered if any one on here made there own?

Can any body give me any tips?

im doing my sloe gin again this year, i use 454g (1 pound) of sloes and 250g of sugar mixed with 750ml of gin, turn every day (do not shake) untill the sugars disolved, then after that every few days i give it a good old shake, it changes colour after a few days, then after a 4 months i will test and then remove the slows through muslin, and whats left of the sloes ill just make up a random guess 'sloe gin' last years turned out quite nice :)

sloe gin/rasp vodka/damson gin/blackberry vodka all made the same kilo of fruit and 1lb sugar into a demi john and add 2ltrs of gin/vodka and shake each day until sugar dissolves then once a week for 6 weeks then once a month until you cannot leave it any longer and strain and bottle drop 5ml of glycerin into each bottle to make it smoother on the tongue and bisto it's done

gonna have a go at making the kings ginger too soon

Once upon a time, just down the road from here, I was served the most delicious cottage pie, it was made with venison from a roe deer. To this day I have yet to try making one with venison, and unfortunately I am unable to ask the person who made it for me for the recipe. BUT, I will be having friends in from Horsey for the weekend, and I would love to attempt to make one for us to have for dinner one evening.

My problem is the length of time to cook the venison before putting it in the pie, so as not to undercook or overcook the meat by the time the whole cooking process is complete. I also wonder what herbs/spices do you use in the venison filling ? I abhor rosemary, but other than that I am open to your suggestions.

Thank you in advance for your help,

      Lynn

Try this recipe this weekend. Try it with an elk steak or even a deer steak.
