FIRST OUTING

CO CHISE

Recommended Posts

had my first outing this aftie with the harris, ive owned this bird for around 4wks, to be honest im very green at this game but ive been spending abit of time with the bird when i can and getting what advice i can from the lad who gave me it, i was struggling at first to drop the birds weight as i was feeding it way too much but ive managed to get it close to what it flys best at, ive had the bird flying a good 20/30 yrd to me daily, the bird isnt fully fit i wouldnt of thought but today i gave it a quick hour out as i was itching to give it a go, the bird has hunted but not for a while, i took the bird to a dairy farm where it is all grass fields with hadge rows devideing the fields where most of the bunny earths are, i managed to bolt a bunny from a earth but it didnt get 10ft before the harris nailed it in a bit of marsh land that was very wet, the bird looked in abit of a mess but wasnt giving it up, i was pleased to see it nail it no probs, i then moved on to another little earth that was under a big tree, this time the bunny bolted but ran between the hedge row, the harris landed on the hedge and followed it about 10yrd or so then took of and landed in a tree, the bunny then bolted from hedge and the harris just dropped out of tree and nailed it, it was good to watch and i enjoyed it, i was happy with the 2 kills, so i put him away then, ile get him abit more fitter then give it another go, heres afew pics

thanks pal, on my first post i got advised to give it away as i new nothing about them, i understand that homework should be done realy before getting any live stock no matter what it is, i look after anything to the best i can, other wise i wouldnt keep them, im happy with how things have gone and it'll have plenty more outings out for me and the harris to enjoy, atb

i know there is a proper way to do things when it comes to birds of prey , but being self taught can work aswell, you have proved it !! for someone that knew nothing about the bird to getting it out not just flying but earning its keep is good going . dont be put off by one or two negative posts , it gets better every time you go out so enjoy !!!!
