1st gen. beddy x whip pup

Recommended Posts

Finally found a beddy x whip here in the states. Neither parent is a worker though. Whippet dam is a courser and Beddy sire is a ratter. Ive looked for ages for a working cross but none to be found here. Wondering about the average height/weight they are as adults. Ever seen them too small?

thank you for the replies. i shouldnt say that they arent workers, i should say they arent worked as a lurcher of any sort. forgive me. (the whip doesnt do live coursing, only to a pulley.) this pup is the last left, about half the size of her littermates. probably only get 20 pounds the breeder is guessing. not sure if she will be large enough to dispatch other than a rat. (or house cat ;) ) there are no other unrelated beddy x whip crosses here in the states that i know of. all i could put her to would be a coursing whippet or, i do know of a good solid working bedlington (from the UK) over here, owned by john broadhurst. not sure what that would get me, bred back to a beddy.

iv seen 1st crosses as small as 15 inches  with the worst patchy hair doo ye ever seen lol, wee dog was awrite at ferreting hedges an such but was too small  be of any real purpose, seen another which was barely 17 ats, an wasnt best impressed with it either to be honest, i have seen a few level out about 19/20 an they seemed a bit handier, you say the whippet courses an the beddy rats, well thats about as much as they do in this country mate, so dont let anybody kid ye that they aint from workers :thumbs:
