poacher3161 1,766
I must admitt to likeing darker coulours in a lurcher but as the old saying goes a good dog carnt be a bad coulour.I remember once having a white dog and an old poacher commenting on it being a liability at night and that if he had waved a white flag wile long netting rabbits their wouldent have been meny left in the field to peg. MrsChamp606 553
What are their running styles like? Is one a heavy running and one lighter on the feet? Maybe something else to consider Quote Link to post

Maybe something else to consider yea good point, but id say my fawn runs lighter on foot, but the black one does keep out the beam, till he strikes if that makes sense Quote Link to post
MrsChamp606 553
yeah I know what you mean, I have seen black and white dogs run and a good dog is a good dog. Quote Link to post
vanquo 2
I've always gone for darker dogs over the years, my whippet sired a litter last year and I was hoping for a black pup (thought there'd be a chance with the Sooty line) but they were all light brindles apart from one which was white from head to tail. He was the biggest, bravest pup and the one that gravitated to me so I picked him. I can see how a white dog might be problematic if you're out having a shine where you shouldn't be (unless it's snowing ) but I don't think he'll fare that badly for what I want him for which is just a bit of lamping on permission. One of the best dogs I've seen in the field was a white beddy/grey/whippet bitch and her colour didn't seem to hold her back. Quote Link to post
