What Air Rifle for around £500

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.. Need your help.. I am looking to buy a air rifle package for around £500.. It needs to be as quiet as possible for the area I'm using it... Is an s200 the way to go or should I go for a gas ram hw90k or something else? Are they really quiet? Cheers Richard.

You will get just about anything for 500 mate,, that should get you a good secondhand HW100,, daystate,, AA S510,, Theoben etc,,

Given your budget, I would find out what rifle you like first, then track one down.

I use a Daystate Air ranger nice and quiet,, and a Falcon Lighthunter,,

Most PCP rifles ,fitted with a decent moderator will be whisper quiet bud,, there will not be much difference using different guns,,,although some moderators are quieter than other,

Tell us about the guns you fancy,, see what folk think

ATB,

Oh and look at the Gun Porn thread,, and show us yer guns thread,, give you an idea for different guns

once you buy a stirrup pump you never have to do anything with it..bottle you have to get charged about and cost around 4 quid each time, check if its anyone near you who fills a bottle first as you could be travelling a good few miles just to fill..bottles have to be tested too, pumps dont. as for guns you wont go far wrong with any airarms, weirauch, daystate, bsa etc lol just get to a gunshop, and see how diff guns fit you..its all good and well people saying to get this and that, but thats what they like and suit them, it doesnt mean the gun will suit you...and a pcp would be better if you want a quiet gun..i used to think my spring gun was pretty quiet, untill i got my hands on a huntsman pcp, lol hell of a diffrence

.177 are easier to shoot as the flatter curve on trajectory, if your going to do target shooting id opt for that...i shoot everything..and i have a .177, but .22s are just as good, but lamping is easier done with .177.

if you go for pcp you will get lees shots with a 177 but only like 20 less sometimes more...i know my huntmans in 177 they say you have 60-70 full power shots, and 22 80-90 i think mate, atb

Target,,, 177

I have started using 177 for all my hunting,, and am totally converted,, very flat out to my ranges, and very good head area penetration,,,(ooeerr missus) 22 is hard hitting though,,

Get to a gun shop and have a look, then come back on here and discuss what you`ve seen
