Munk 0
Good evening folks, I wondered if anyone here can recommend a suitable sound moderator for my .22 calibre Falcon FN-19 air rifle? From what I understand the manufacturer used to produce a standard sound moderator for their rifles but other sound moderators can be used with the aid of an adaptor? Does anyone have experience of which sound moderator will perform best with this rifle and am I likely to be able to source standard Falcon parts anyway since the manufacturer was taken over? I am not looking to spend too much but don't want to throw away money on cheap rubbish that doesn't do the job either. Hopefully something around the £50 mark if that isn't too optimistic. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
From my own experiences Id go in this order pal: Twink Mark 2 silencer (my favourite) BSA VC silencer Weihrauch HW silencer Hogan Decimeter. I used the BSA VC on my Scorpion SE and its a brilliant silencer and very quiet. Si. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
After fitting a silencer its well worth fitting a detwanger to your FN19 (unless it allready has one) this stops the "ping" noise from the air cylender after firing. one of theese combined with a weihrauch silencer on my old FN19 made it super quiet, you could only really hear the hammer and the impact of the pellet. atb tom. Cheers Tom! These are a new one on me. After having a look around on the internet I see some people make them. Is home made a suitable option or best to buy? TBH I'd be reluctant to fit it myself at this stage anyway, being so new to air rifles it might be worth paying a visit to the local gun shop. atb Munk Edited January 6, 2012 by Munk Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
I had mine sent from falcon - it was a tenner if i remember rightly. to fit it you have to make sure the air cylender is COMPLETELY empty and unscrew the filling end of the air cylender (i used mole grips and some inner tube to protect the metal) and push the detwanger up the air cylender towards the hammer end (with the cup end of detwanger going in first). i pushed mine up with a lentgh of dowling and then when put back together and fired it was a massive difference as they seem to resonate for ages without one. atb tom. Munk 0
Can I just say thanks for all the advice that everyone has put up. After having a look at some of the reviews I decided to go with the twink. PM'd Davy who must have access to secret space age teleport technology judging by the lighting speed at which one arrived on my doorstep. He has really gone out of his way to kit me out with one quickly and now I'm itching to get out and try it. Since there is no chance of me skiving off work next week I have to travel back up the road tomorrow so next weekend or the weekend after I'll get out and have a play with it and let you all know how I get on. Cheers again! Munk Quote Link to post
Munk 0
Hello folks. Had a day off today and finally got around to testing out the twink. Am really impressed with it. Not even sure I'll fit a detwanger for now as the rifle is very quiet as it is. Might do some more testing and measure any sound from the location of the target to see if the slight sound from the air reservoir is worth bothering about. Am just looking forward to having a weekend off work now to practice my shooting and maybe fit a bipod to the rifle. Anyway, I'm glad I went with the twink.... I would be happy to recommend it. Thanks once again to Davy and everyone who has offered their advice to this newbie. Edited January 22, 2012 by Munk Quote Link to post
