Birchdown 38
Yep, all the time mate. You'll have to check their eyes in case they have a thorn in there somewhere. If the dogs eye goes cloudy you'll need to see the vet. I keep a supply of fucithalmic gel in the house just in case. 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
if the eyes go a cloudy blue colour its an infection, treat it with optrex infected eye you can buy it at any chemist 1 Quote Link to post

deadlyshot 25
my dog eyes went cloudy last year like a blue colour and i had to go see a specialist in Cambridge and he told me it is water/liquid getting into the eye but there was only two ways of this happening 1st way was from ulcers on the front of the eye or it coming through the back of the eye but my dog had a few ulcers on the front of the eye and he then gave me acular eye drops but there is also another eye drop that they will give you which is called maxitrol (this is a steroid) so it don't help at all it stops the pain and can make things worse but this year she in now getting rings around her eyes loss of hair not found out what is causing it yet but not too worried. but if its your dogs eyes that are sore id get them sorted asap as a dog that cant see wont be much help to you i wouldn't of thought Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
Killer, some dogs suffer more than others, its mainly down to breeding,I've bushed all my life with most types of terriers and other types and some strains don't suffer at all,I once had an eddie chapman bitch that suffered terribly after work and retired her aged 3yrs,she lost both eyes due to infection eventually aged 7yrs in her pet home,I keep plummers and russells and none of mine suffer with itchy feet or bad eyes,my dogs are bred for bushing, golden eye ointment works well for minor scratches but the teabag method is my main way,Deadlyshot, sounds like your vet liked a little earner from you, most vets are full of sh*t when it comes to dogs and love the pounds more than the dog, most lads do their own maintenance after work in the field due to cost, hope your dog gets sorted,WM 1 Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
One of my spaniells is a demon in bramble and thick cover, so I often have to sort his eyes out sfter a hard day,, Golden eye is one ointment I use, But get it from a chemist,, it`s only a few quid,, go to the vets, and get charged 30 quid, for the same ingredients, in the same tube, with a different name, and for vetrinary use only on the side !!
