A Short Outing

Recommended Posts

Been out quite a few times lately with charlie nelly1 off here, bagging 7 on Saturday morning and 7 yesterday. This time I was on my own doing a little spot a couple of hundred yards from my front door. It's an open warren that I ferret only once every season, and can be relied upon to produce 1 or 2 rabbits when ferreted. Nutjob, the polecat jill once again joined me, and after a short walk I was stood outside the warren. About 2 dozen purse nets made sure that any fleeing coneys would soon be stopped. The jill was collared up, and sent down. She showed at a couple of holes, but each time she shot back down. Five minutes passed and there was no sign or her, when suddenly 1 shot out of a hole, and wriggled about in the net that held it captive, no sooner had a delt with that rabbit, another bolted, this was necked and then another bugs hit a net! It was manick and within a couple of minutes, 3 lovely sized rabbits had been added to the bag. Unfortunately, that was it for this warren and I headed back home just as the crows were begining to fly overhead to their night time roost. The rabbits were skinned once I got home and dropped off at the butchers about 15 minutes ago. So from warren to butchers in less than a couple of hours, you don't get much fresher than that!!

Out again with charlie nelly1 on the field that we have been hammering, wish us luck. :victory:
