rem 700 sps 1/12 twist

hi guys what do you think would be the best round to use in my .223 remington sps it has a 1/12 twist ?

You need to try different loads to see what suits your rifle the best, I would suggest try a 50-55 gr and take it from there.

 

If your are home loading you have much better scope for a suitable round, that's the reason I'm starting to get into home loading.

Also worth a look are the new Hornady V-Max 53gr, Im using them in a 1:10 twist and they group very well, plus a bit flatter and faster than remmy accutips.

I have the same rifle as yourself, i reload my own load's.

 

55gr Sierra Gameking's- N133 VihtV-25gns @3275 fps for Roe Deer.

40gr V-Max N133 VihtV-26.5gns @3975 fps for Foxes

these load's are close to "MAX" "start lower and work up" watch out for pressure sign's!

The norm is the norm but the only way you will find what works for you is to try some.

 

My T3 .223 is 1-8 and can deal with everything from 40-80g very satisfactorily, I've not tried anything heavier than 80g

All bullet's above 65gr in my Rifle will not stabilize! also my Rifle is the same as your 1/12tw
