try cleaning the point of contact were the battries meet the cap and collar, if its tarnished it might fail

Mick Dadd fixes and services the boxes, but wont touch the collars, once they have gone thats it, as they are covered in resin, but he does sell brand new ones for £40.

No mate. Did ring him and he said to send it and he will have a look at it. Moneys tight ATM so maybe after Xmas. Doing fine without one just now, touch wood.
