Lost while lamping

Recommended Posts

I have a particular bit of ground thats had me a few times. All flat reclaimed land but cut through all over with deep identical dykes. I've been going there years and know it well but every now and again, either at night or when fog comes in in the day, it gets me. As soon as you loose where you are your screwed, even if you know where your trying to get to, navigating by far off lights etc, you get cut off by the dykes. They are about 8 foot wide and up to 6 foot deep with high sloping banks so almost impossible to cross. They run for miles out there and the bridges are just concrete beams laid across, easy to miss in the dark and even easier to think you've missed them! The place can be a right head wrecker but it has its benefits.

Any of you lads ever got yourself lost while lamping? It happened to me n my mate the other nite, weve bin on this farm probly a thousand times over the years up dales night and day! But the other night we jst got carried away n went slightly off from where we usually go n before we knew it we were lost! Seems stupid now but when [bANNED TEXT] up there in middle of nowhere and everything looks the same and its jst we'll jst have a look over that hill then when u get to top still nothing gets very disoriantainting and the ground is tough walking espeicially we weight of rabbits on [bANNED TEXT] back! Luckily afta 3 hour of jst picking a direction and walking we finally found where we were neva bin as happy to see my little van!!!!

I confess this gave me a little giggle, but only 'cause I know you and I reckon you were out with Mr W ... which makes it even funnier

Had one similar mate, was at a little party at my brothers house and the missus was doing my head in we had a bit of a row i sai F*ck this I'm going out for a walk with the dog. Had my lamp in the van so grabbed that and the dog and walked up over the back fields and kept walking onto land I had never seen before until I was completely lost. I had left the party at around 11-30 and finally found my way back at 5 in the morning after a constant yomp, I ended up coming onto a road I knew about 3 miles from his house.
