Hi there.

As the title says me and a friend of mine are look for some permission in Lincolnshire. This seems to an impossible feet no one in this county seems to want to give it.

I've been out this morning and went to see 5 different farms 2 said they will get back to me and the rest well told me where to go!

Am I doing something wrong? I've tryed to approach farm managers diarectly and also tryed to show my face and explain what I want to do.

Please help I'm open to ideas.

Many thanks Simon.

No offence chap but Lincolnshire is mainly covered in shooting syndicates and permission can be hard to get, i know being from Lincolnshire. The fact is you only knocked on 5 doors and got 2 who said they would get back to you, in my eyes thats fantastic. I remember spending 4 days off work knocking on farms, i must have tried 50/60 and got one farm out of the lot. The only way to get permission is perseverance, be polite(even when they aren't), look smart and be sensible. Dont go dressed like a moron, dont take dogs, dont expect farmers to be on their knees praising your arrival. Keep trying mate, no offence but many lads will have worked very hard to get and keep their permission so its dobtfull most will let a stranger hunt their permission...............

Yes I know that was just 5 farms today I'm back out on Wednesday looking for more if time will let me. I will keep looking with out a doubt. I've never took dogs with me to ask for permission I've left them at home or in the car. I've always made my intentions clear as to was I want to do as well. I used to work on the land slug pelleting so I've have had experience with rude and obnoxious farmers and like you say be polite that is the key to getting things done. I just hope I manage to get some permission this season. I don't expect it to be a walk in the park that's for sure. But I'm struggling to find farm houses and farm offices where I haven't worked before.

Any reason why you cant/dont want to go back to farms you've worked on before?

No I think I could of explained my self a little bit better here my apologies.

What it is that I used to work in agriculture slug pelleting, weed spraying, avedexing you no the stuff that farmers don't want to do or haven't got the time to do.

So what I did was today and the last few days ive been to most of the farmers farm that I've worked for in the past and asked them for some ferreting permission.

The problem is and like I said in my new comers thread is that we are new to ferreting this being our second season.

This is why we are finding it hard to get permission. We have about two acres worth of permission but it's dry we think someone else is ferreting it or dare I say poaching it.

OK but if farmers who you have worked for wont give you permission your going to struggle

Good Luck
