gnasher16 31,602
dont agree with that gnasher ben always looked good dishing it out but when he got hit he had a glass jaw and no stamina and as for the other two beat fair an square think he beat Eubanks twice Benn did have a poor chin you are right......but i dont think Collins would have lived with his intensity, power and competetive spirit at his best or put a dent in Eubank at his best either.....Collins was one of those efficient fighters, wasnt great at anything but good at everything...and like with many fighters timing went his way,he caught those 2 right at the end but avoided a young Calzaghe by about a year. gnasher16 31,602
Pyatt wasnt at his peak mate he only had 3 or 4 fights after that then retired.......Eubank might of been the younger man but again only had another 4 or 5 fights after and lost 3 of them 2 to Carl Thmpson who he would never of lost to at his peak..............you cant just go by age a 32 year old can still have plenty more left in the tank than a 27 year old depending how hard their careers been.....i dont think anybody would say the Eubank that Steve Collins beat was the same Eubank that beat Benn..... But we all have opinions mate thats fair enough Edited November 14, 2011 by gnasher16

Nobody forgot him Stig....his mortgage was paid off he,s had numerous donations through the brain and spine foundation......NOTHING good comes out of these accidents so its no compensation at all......but thats one of the beauties of British boxing that doesnt happen anywhere else,we look after our own....from Spencer Oliver to Rod Douglas...Michael Watson to Paul Ingle......even the family of little Bradley Stone, have all recieved plenty of support financial and emotional.........compare that to poor Gerald Mcclellan in America who was left to rot, even then it took English ex boxers to help him out......British boxing dont forget these boys mate. ...........17 years ago still " proud as a peacock " and never forgotten. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32773235@N07/3210778264/in/photostream Edited November 14, 2011 by gnasher16

Thats from the bbbc that doesnt include what he,s had through the brain and spine foundation....dont forget the fundraising from that has to be spread around 20 odd other fighters as well.......what more could they have done it was his chosen profession like any other, and its 100 % more than any other country does........id be happy for these boys to have everything they want or need, but its worth remembering Bradley Stones mum got nothing because of the private insurance he had........and she never saw her son again. Our board of control does more than any other countries mate thats for sure.

gnasher16 31,602
Yes but they dont have to pay anything is what im saying mate and we all know the risks as soon as the gloves go on........no other country or boxing commission does......id like to see the kid given anything he wants but the reality is he has a better quality of life than others who have had a lot less......i mean getting no money for being dead dont get much worse does it but the local community got out and saw to it that Bradley Stones family were seen alright,he was a kid out of the flats with nothing but his family have been looked after.......i dont know what the local area did for Paul Ingle.....but hey,a debate over who has the worst brain damage is not a conversation i want to have probably you neither.............my only point was other countries dont pay compensation at all, look at Mcllellen as an example....at least ours does something. the_stig 6,614
maybe the bbbc do ,do more than other countrys a lesson learnd from the watson tragedy maybe -- when at the time they where uninsured i think watson had to sue them for a payout of around 350k if i`m right around half a million less then he would have got had they been insured ---
Attack Fell Terrier 864
steve collins had benn and eubanks numbers ... Couldnt agree with that mate.....Collins was in the right place at the right time and was a good fighter and a tough guy so fair do,s...............but Benn and Eubank were all washed up by the time he fought them.....even when Collins won the title he nicked it off a washed up Chris Pyatt.....i dont believe he would of beat any of those 3 in their prime.....he was a clever fighter Collins,in and out of the ring I think Benn was washed up but I wouldn't say Eubank was. Eubank still had a lot of fight left in him when he fought Collins IMO.

Personally i dont think Eubank ever fought with the same hunger or desire after the Watson thing.....after Collins he had 3 more world title fights before retiring, and lost them all....maybe washed up is a bit strong, but certainly not the same fighter Benn or Watson fought........again,only my opinion like.
