KittleRox 2,147
getting back to topic, it takes much more time and effort to teach a dog the ferreting game than it doe,s lamping so after a dog has learned the skills you,re much less likely to get rid, as has already been said losing a good ferreting dog would be like losing a right arm, a good dog will let you know if theres bunnys at home, catch bolters, alert you to the fact the ferret has made an exit out of your sight etc etc, a good dog does the job of a half dozen men and more 1 Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
A pup should not be brought out until it as the speed to catch a rabbit in my eyes. There is lots off other things a pup can be learning while its growing to much people rush pups and there is no need Why bring out a pup that can not catch or even get close its just going yap the place down trying. whin 463
ive only gave one good ferreting dog away to good home at 6 as she was not suiting my needs fallon,i think a good ferreting dog you need time and patience to train them ,or good bits to school them ,and fereting is a team event dog ferets locators spade , nets s why give one of the team away caut thirties with dog and ferret no nets so a handy asset so is a dog that knecks his game and clean kils them before the ban etc , worth there weight , a good ferreting dog is handy but a good allrounder more in my eyes Quote Link to post
