marshman 7,758
Do you think that some ufc bouts might be fixed? I'm not into conspiracy theories but of late I'm finding myself increasingly sceptical of some fights . After watching the ufc in brazil I wasn't surprised that all of the south American fighters won! Also with a lot of other fights were the most popular fighters seem to be winning. And when you do get a fighter turn it around and win against the odds, shogun vs machida the first fight if it goes to points they seem to give dodgy decesions. Now I know that you can't predict a ko or a good submission. But the odds seem to be stacked in favour with the fighter with pay per view draw. What's your opinion ? Simoman 110
Pride were known to have worked matches but no i dont believe the UFC do it, not now anyway. There is a story about Don Frye winning a fixed match when the UFC first started as the manager controlled Don and another fighter..........
marshman 7,758
I don't think it's fixed in the way were they might say to one lad right you've got to lose ! What I mean is the odds all seem to be stacked with the fighter who is the biggest draw. I'll give a prediction and my reason . Munoz vs leben , right I reckon Munoz is gonna win ! The reason if the ufc can the get the phillipino pay per view market , there profits will be a Massive ! They've seen the profit PAC man has brought to boxing. And they want the same in the ufc. Though I don't think they've said to leben you've got to lose. I just think they've picked a fight for Munoz were the odds are stacked in his favour! Saying that I could be wrong and leben comes out and sparks him lol!!
trappa 518
No, no way, not at that level. The decisions are sometimes a bit dodgy but the fights arent fixed. The last time i saw anything remotely sus was the strikeforce title fight nick diaz v paul daley, i thought the ref jumped in too soon. The ref being big john mcarthy who left the ufc under a dark cloud and this fight was straight after the ufc bought strikeforce and paul daley had not long before been thrown out of the ufc. marshman 7,758
Do you not think it's the reason why Diaz fought and old bj Penn instead of a young up and coming Carlos condit? Diaz winning and get a shot at the champ is a bigger earner than condit fighting gsp!!!

gnasher16 31,602
I dont think Ufc is fixed at all....." taking a dive " for want of a better expression,is a very difficult thing to pull off ( not to mention illegal )and would certainly have raised question marks before now......the only thing id say is fixed is the manner in which fights are put together........ufc is more of an entertainment than a sport....its a popularity contest.....take somebody like Quinton Jackson.....his " character " is very wwf like yet in reality he,s looked pretty average while still being possibly the biggest draw in the sport.....but then he puts bums on seats and thats important in the ufc organisation ! It seems that fights are put together based on what fans want to see NOT basic rankings/top contenders etc and thats wrong.....a champion should have to make a mandatory defence every other fight or else why have rankings at all.........i think the sport itself is very pure and thats the attraction for me.....but the running of the sport is typical American hype and bullshit which is a shame......however thats a completely different thing to being corrupt. marshman 7,758
There's a fine line between hand picking fights and fixing , and then calling it good promotion and marketing!!

I know what your saying and gnasher summed it up for me in his post, but fights aren't fixed as in a planned outcome

Simoman 110
I think Diaz is a fighter and Penn was a martial artist if that makes sense...............
gnasher16 31,602
I think Diaz is a fighter and Penn was a martial artist if that makes sense............... I agree with that................................no matter about all the technical ability in the world theres still a lot to be said for what a fighter has in his heart.......them Diaz boys might be arrogant little shits but if i had to guess id say they are put together right inside .....and thats a great base to build on.....being able to put your foot behind your head from a standing position is all fine and dandy.....but in a physical fight give me core gameness any day of the week.
trappa 518
A lot of the time too i think Dana and his cronies expect someone to win and have a plan put forward. Remember when Brock got beat by Velasquez? The camera spun round to Dana and he looked like someone had just shot his dog, he was visibly gutted as he had already planned a Frank mir trilogy for him. I think there a couple of cases like that but i dont think its fixed. Post #9 by nasher is an educated and totally correct analysis.
