whats the best first cross

Recommended Posts

well as we are talking just rabbits+ rats, a 2nd gen 1x collie grey, good coat+ feet for cold+ hard ground, well fast for a rabbit any ground and very agile and plenty of brain if you need it , and most make 22-26in nice size

whippet greyhound nice dog but not good on rough land and if asked to run to much not as hardy as a good beardie cross and saluk cross , god for breeding good lurchers but not the foll package ,dont l

rabbit- Whippet x bed, whippet x grey, collie x grey Hare- whippet x grey, saluki x grey Fox- grey x bull, grey x terrier, grey x deerhound Antelope- saluki x grey Kangaroo - deerhound x grey Dee

how long is a piece of string

i think the first cross collie greyhound is the best for producing decent lurchers. and to me they have the real benefit of good weatherproof jackets. i also like a good beddy cross. but they can lack pace and hight in the first cross.

as for dogs cant be to fast. i dissagree and have seen many a flying machine retired early due to being to fast for there own good. a good lurcher is a balanced animal produced by cross breeding. otherwise we would all be running greyhounds or longdogs. just my opinion

but having a flying machine knowing when and where he/she should open up is far better than having a slower dog that IF meets a situation where he needs that extra oomph, hes gonna be f****d..IMO anyway.

just get that pup out on all diffrent land, mine seems fine on all type of land, when out just having a stroll there is a few times where you think "f****n slow down" but she knows what she doing as she slows down before you have chance to say lol, hope im not jinxing myself but shes turned out to be a sturdy dog..and on an open field shes like a bullet, but on ruffer ground, she does generally take her time

Deer - grey x deerhound

Boar - bull x grey. deerhound x bull, wolfhound x bull

best allrounder- deerhound x grey. Only one that could hunt all of the above with some degree of success IMO.

gun b were you going get the working greyhound the working deerhound to test before you breed , it would take a while , saw some very good collie type big beardie types wheaton cross , saluki cross , al first crosses and genuine , would say the best cross is to make sure ma and da is tested first for a few seasons ,at what they are bred for
