New Spartan Moderator from 3rd Eye Tactical

I had been hearing things on a few web forums, and from some well known long distance shooters about a company called '3rd Eye Tactical', and more importantly a new moderator they have developed called the 'Spartan'.

 

I rang the companies office and spoke to a very nice chap called Craig, I told him the calibre and thread I wanted and that was that.

It was posted 1st class to my local RFD and arrived today.

 

The moderator is made in-house in the UK in a specialised CNC machine shop working to very tight tolerances.

Needless to say the quality of this mod' is superb.

 

It's an over the barrel reflex type that is a lot smaller in both length and diameter than the competition as well as being a lot lighter and in some cases a lot cheaper.

Early reports on its moderation levels are very good, with most reports of it being quieter than the owners past moderators, Ill report back on that once I have had chance to test it.

 

Its basically a tube which contains a set of 5 red anodised baffles with stainless steel inserts to stop gas cutting, topped off with a stainless steel vented brake, that contains the barrel thread and takes the initial gasses, slows them down and dumps them in the reflex chamber before heading through the 5 vented baffles. The tube is sealed at the exit with and end cap also containing a baffle and it all screws together and locks up by way of a very nice 3-pin locking tool.

Overall length is 228mm and only around 120mm of that is on the end of your barrel.

Outside diameter is 42mm and all up weight is 519g.

bought one from nige simpson in shepshed.i think its awesome to strip and clean and as quiet as my outher mods amd 160 grms lighter than my reflex t8 not over priced.top marks from me . they also do rimfire mods.

I got one when I bought my X-bolt from Swillington. Not quite as quiet as my Wildcat, but the difference is hardly noticable. Size is quite a bit smaller so in my opinion works out better. No complaints whatsoever. Also got a third eye one piece weaver mount for the rifle as well. Build quality on both is excellent.

Third eye are really making a big impact in the shooting scene, and fair play to them, Seeing the footage of the 4 axis milling lathe, is simply awesome,

 

a very big investment, And quality products within a short distance, means we don't have to relay on America to give us their leftovers...

Well my conclusion ( albeit quiet late form this first post):

Definitely wellmade, easy to strip and clean.

Not as quiet as a wildcat pred 8 with calibre specific baffle stack, but follow through was better as recoil was reduced a little more.

Now sold it as trying out various moderators and currently waiting for variation for a Vulcan moderator which is getting very good reviews from the military.

Hi Mate, Have you tried the Roedale mods? i have the ultra lite v Very quiet and very light hardly noticeable on the barre..

Hi Lewdan, I was going to try one on offer from sportsman gun centre, however they had a backlog of around 3-4 weeks, I have heard good things about them though and its good to hear that your pleased with yours.

I have been trying to get some feedback on their rimfire mods, particularly for WMR/HMR, for ages but I am very short of information!
