ryan666 64
never heard that one before, plus there must be millions of rifles out there not in the owners names so id not worrie about it for a second! Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Your friend is talking out of his rectum It's only since 2007 that RFD's now record numbers and name of the rifles FIRST owner (the person that buys it) and although the police can ask to see the RFD's Register, they would need a ruddy good reason to do so. stealthy1 3,964
The police will check your guns number if you get a pull, it can work both ways, if its stolen you could lose it, but if your name is attactched to your gun number and it gets stolen and found, then you will get it back if you reported it stolen, make a note of the number just in case, you could have it logged at your local nick, up to you Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Unless its an FAC jobbie, then you would need a Fire Arms Certificate and the rifle would be registered to you. An old HW is unlikely to be FAC in this country. Tony Quote Link to post

Tony Like you say, outside Ireland and it not being an FAC, I cant see it causing him any problems, bar being over powered if checked, dont know if the local plod log airguns? Dont know anyone who's had it done, but if anyone else has, feel free to elaborate Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Got stopped by plod the other week on the permission, but they were looking for a red Mitsubishi 4x4 that had made off from them, they knew who I was, just wondered if it had come past on the permission and I was able to say no, so they did not have to search that bit! Luckily everything is flat round here, nowhere to hide! Quote Link to post

The one 8,593
the only way they can check the rifle against the serial number is if its a firearms ,and you produce your certificate ,surely?. Quote Link to post
