Anyway, imo, the punishment fits the crime but their judicial system has alot to be desired! lol. They got their final conviction by beating it out of him ffs. Hardly reliable or trustworthy. Population of Britain is what, 60 million plus? out of 60 million people you are going to get rapists, murderers etc. There isn't a society in the world that doesn't have them, when they get caught they're banged up for life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there are no holes in the justice system in this country, but you can't really say it's an uncivilised society (discounting the recent riots obviously!), certainly nowhere near what it's like over there!!! Again, this thing about repeat crimes....yes it does happen but I wouldn't exactly say it happens frequently. You're right, if they got caught over there they certainly wouldn't do it again, but you can't tell me they give them a trial that guarantees that they've got the right person? do they bollocks, a lot of them will just relish the spectable of a public execution.
