Guest Ditch_Shitter
Raw flesh and bones, mate. I'm the forums breast of lamb fiend myself. That'll put weight on a burst balloon. Bit of beef heart now and then, for variety. Veggie's go down well too. Par boil or steam them to help the Dog digest them. Bit of vegetable oil on top of any of that's good too. It's what we used - in the old days - to call a 'Complete and balanced, natural diet for a Dog'. Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
the best food to put weight on your dog is chicken its as simple as that worm it and then feed it chicken tuna pilchards chicken and fish and wholegrain bread...jmo...it works for me ... Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
If you think she may be cold get a coat and put it on her in the kennel: I take it she's kenneled or you wouldn't have mentioned her being cold> make sure she has a small enough space to sleep in so her body heat stays in the box around her, and make sure she has plenty of bedding. Another reason for losing weight is a heavy worm burden. Have you wormed her recently and if so what with? Make sure she has enough fat in her diet: dogs get their energy from fat. If you are feeding a complete dog food and its costing you less than £30 per bag the chances are there's not a lot of fat in it: maybe enough for a pet dog in the house, but not for a working/active dog living outside in the winter. Check the ingredients and the percentages of fat/protein etc. As Ditch says, get her on meat bones if you can: and despite what folks say, tripe is good for putting on weight IMO, but not tripe on its own. TOMO 29,268
there are already a lot of good answers here. WORM IT. thats most important . it also could be somthing else wrong, so go to a vet if your not sure. but if its none of these FEED THE FECKER MORE. its that simmple dont know why folk are saying chicken and fish. there alright a couple times a week . but if i wanted to put wight on it . use beef and lamb + loads of fat. also suet. also you could feed it twice a day. like skycat said. make sure its warm Quote Link to post
