mackem 31,202
Got a nephew who is doing his BPCA Level 2,he is currently working in a warehouse and its eating into his soul, very depressive working environment for him,he is only 19 but has already served a short sentence in nick for fighting so my sis is fully backing him in his quest to be a pest-control-technician.I am thinking there has to be other courses which will stand him in good stead when seeking employment with the larger pest-control firms, anyone suggest any such as cherrypicker certificate? How does he get a railway PTS cert if he hasnt a firm to sponsor him,can he get it solo?Just brainstorming really, anything to give him an edge? PLEDGEY 496
For a Cherry picker you need a MEWP's ticket, a 'Mobile Elevated Works Platform' ticket. The company i worked for paid for mine, i know they are not cheap, but if you are going to be using a MEWP for work purposes you should have a ticket. 1 Quote Link to post

budgie123 163
As already mentioned a driving licence is very very important.Apart from initial training period when he will be with some one else he will be working alone were driving is essential. If he gets his Level 2 he should be in a good position to gain employment. On Jobcentre plus there is currently jobs advertised where no experience or qualificatons are required as full training will be provided. Personally i would recommend if he can gaining employment with a company who will give him good practical training. I hope it works out for him it is an excellent rewarding job. 1 Quote Link to post
