hw 35

hi,

does any body know what the hw 35 .22 are like?are they powerful?

 

ive been offered one but know nothing about them, if anyone can help i would be greatful,

My first real air rifle as a teenager .Mine was .22 with open sights & standard spring,took many ferals with it down the old dock mills & the odd rabbit .It's a decent gun,great trigger & the usual HW build quality with the weight to match :laugh: .If it's a reasonable price,take it you won't be dissapointed

Brilliant guns, standard do 10-11ftlbs, tune up very well and only overtaken by newer guns.

thanks for the replys,you make it sound like a good quality gun,when people say,it can be tuned what does that entale,? can it be tuned to near the 12lb mark ok?

the man who has got it said for me to make him an offer, its in very good condition,it has a gamo 4x40wa scope,and a gun bag, it not been used that much,

so whats it worth?

I had a 35 it was a bit of a let down at first .The main problems were the inside of the gun was roughly finished , the barrel locking was poor and ananoying click every time you cock the gun .the shot cycle was bad and the barrel would shut in different places .giving poor accurace........I polished the inside and the piston with autosolve and filed and chiseld the locking mecanisum a little until it shut and locked properly.The gun then shot well the click was not solved it was in the disign.I did shoot a lot of rabbits with the gun but I have mixed feelings about the gun .My brother has the 4o+ year old gun now it still shoots even after being nearly destroyed in a house fire.The gun is bare metal finish and the stock is like a burned stick..

Loads of target lads used them in the early days of field target shooting.i shot an early tuned one,very smooth and only 10ftlbs so you dont need power if its accurate

TBH, an HW35 is only surpassed by modern springers in terms of refinement. Most made close to 12 fpe but even 10.5fpe is more than adequate for rabbit hunting at sensible ranges; accuracy is everything afterall.
