you need to make yourself more interesting to the pup, make her want to be with you from the inside out, calling her in cases like that dont make a jot of difference, because your voice is not stimulat

What you have to remember is that pups which have been neglected during the most important months of their lives: the first 4 months, take a great deal of patience. She has missed out on all that earl

keep it on the lead then, try to get a bond with it 1st.Keep giving it fuss+treats while its on the lead, if you are going to loose it of the lead make sure they aint knowbody about or dog. It still j

Im not the most exspierenced in the huntig world, but my 6month old bull x whippet, well her re call seems to be coming on really well, fair enough when she sees another dog she just wants to play, she's a pup and tbh i dont mind its socialising, but what i do is when i call her, always a nice (exciting tone) and walk away from her never towards, and just keep walking not to far obviously but when she clocks the call and sees me leaving shes right by my side, as she comes in i go down to her level and greet her with loads of praise and a treat or throw a ball so she thinks - coming back = play/praise/fun, if you bollock a dog and its away in the middle of a field imo its guna think ahhh what the fecccck no way im going over there, unlike humans when where bollocked where scared but no we have to face up to it eventually, a dog dosnt want to come into a horrible call and unfriendly welcome like a kick or a slap, keep it happy, bond treats, play with it when it arrives, walk away as you call and dont over do the call, if you do its just boring to the pup, you only want the re-call to be used when you really need it.

As i said im not an expert but with the advice i took and time i spent bonding my pups re-call is easily 150% better than my 3 year old whippet, and thats why im going to stick to this method. atb with the pup:) whippets arnt hardy dogs also, not saying you do but a kick slap, hit with the lead never guna make it come back, there stubborn and can turn funny little dogs if they get knocked about

Nice to see you put the effort in with her. That's the problem when you have a dog that can run straight, it can get away from you. Glad to see your sticking with dogs you can catch.

Mines from working parents, caught a few mixis and healthy rabbits, can jump, marks and bushes, so them things like running seem minor to the positive areas of her!

It shows what putting a bit of effort and time into a dog can give you. All dogs have their own difficulties but if you take your time to work through them you end up with a better dog.

Is that it in your avitar? Has it got barnesmore whippet in it.....the colour looks similar? Just asking because i know sombody with a whippet of that breeding and its the most temperamental dog i have come across when off the lead, really funny with men...talked to somebody else on here with one and his is very similar.

Thats my only thing now, retrieve and re call ( and stop her chewing my mums couch :whistling: ) so this weekend, its off for lots of chewable fun toys, and treats for re-call, also she has accidents in the house, but thats all down to the family not taking her out regulary enough, apparently i have to be everywhere at one time.

And I actually still have her as she was starting to come on a lil until 2am this morning when she started howling the house down ! So stick that in your pipe and smoke it asshole

Nobody wanted her then :hmm: You did the opposite of talking her up. She was just a pup and saying she would be no good as a worker just because you couldn't get her to come back to you wasn't fair on her. Hopefully you won't jump to conclusions so quick next time around.
