Adult Dog Weights

Recommended Posts

Bit subjective but bear with me. Ive a 7 months old Bitch, Deer x Grey and I think Saluki too (huge long ears). Looking at her diet and the food we feed I notice some of the amounts to feed her are based upon her 'target adult weight'. Now then, how the f**k can i tell that? At the moment at 7 months she is 21 1/2" tts, cant recall her weight but she looks pretty 'right'. Anyone have any experience of a similar bitch cross and her 'target' adult weight.

I assume she will be full grown at 18 or so months?

I don't read the suggested feeding guides. They are simple guidelines.

A dog that runs more than another will need higher quantities.

I go by eye. If the dog is looking a bit skinny, give more, if a little heavy, feed less.

Spot on, guidelines are just that...........

in my opinion weight varies in the breed of the dog i dont listen to that dog should be this weight and that dog should be that weight my dogs get good feeds and if im gonna be running them hard i up the feed and if its gona be a cold night or day i up the feed those cold days and nights with the dog shivering causes the dog to drop there weight if they are too cold my old dog used to sleep in the run in any weather mad old git

i dont care what the dogs weigh, if they look underweight thats a problem, if they start to look plodgy walk em more or cut them down, if theyre fat, starve them! only joking dont do the last one.... but ive found with whippet type lurchers just fill there bowl and they will eat as they please and wont just ill themselves to the max
